Hygge CAL – The 2017 Scheepjes Crochet-a-long
What’s the Hygge CAL?
The Hygge CAL is the 2017 Scheepjes CAL. During 14 weeks we will create a gorgeous wrap together. This CAL is unlike any other CALs, in the sense that we’re not only going to crochet, but also embroider, do a little surface crochet, and possibly even sew a lining, if you want to. This CAL is all about decorating a crochet project. For all techniques, written instructions and diagrams are available. Also, Esther from It’s all in a Nutshell is providing video’s to support you even more.
What does Hygge mean?
Hygge is a Danish word which roughly translates to ‘cosiness’, but actually, it’s so much more! It’s not only about cosiness, but also about being in a warm, welcoming environment and enjoying the good things in life. Being with friends and family, that’s hygge. But wearing your favourite sweater with a cup of tea, that’s hygge too. And working on a cozy wrap together, learning new things and enjoying the process, that’s definitely hygge.
When does the CAL start?
The actual CAL starts on the 15th of February, 2017. on the 8th of February, we will release a Tips & Tricks document. This document contains all the necessary info on how to make your gauge match the pattern’s gauge and an introduction to embroidery.
The CAL will run for 13 weeks. After that, you have finished your Hygge wrap. Each week you’ll get a part of the crochet pattern. If you want, you can also line your wrap. It’s something we highly recommend because of the backside of embroidery. Plus, it’s a very handy skill to learn! For that I’ve written instructions that will be released in the optional week 14 of the CAL.
Where can I get a kit for the Hygge CAL?
The kits are available from Retailers from Februari 1st, 2017. There are 5 kits available: Rainbow, Jewel, Pastel, Danish Mermaid and Girls’ night in. Danish Mermaid is a limited edition kit, made by Simy Somer.
Can you show me what is in the kit?
Of course! To this end I’ve made an unboxing video, where you can see what’s in the kits. Have a look at it here:
