Long time no see! I’ve been a bit absent of this blog for the past week, it was really filled to the brim with stuff I had to do or wanted to do for a long time. BF and me have been sleeping on a small (well, 1.40m wide) bed for the past 4 years. However, lately the leggs of my bed in the middle started becoming crooked causing the mattress to bend down in the middle. This ofcourse resulted in unwanted midnight cuddling. So we were off to find a new bed!
I’ve been wanting a bigger bed for a while now and last weeks evenings were full of driving to IKEA, to other stores, back to IKEA, not so sure about the other stores, and eventually buying the bed at IKEA. But my friend, if that would be the only thing we bought at IKEA that would be unique. Ofcourse I had to bring some archive boxes, new sheets, new covers (yay, more colour!) and lots of food! We absolutely love the hotdogs and meatballs… Once we take them home they never stay in the freezer for long. I hope this compulsive overshopping at IKEA is recognizable for many of you? (right? RIGHT???)
This is our new bed, a whopping 1.80 m wide! Our mattrasses have more volume compared to these and we’ve decided to go for a bigger size duvet, to make it seem like it’s a boxspring. I really love how luxurious boxsprings look and I’ve been buying pillows like crazy already!
But now the most challenging part has arrived; where are we gonna put the old bed for the time being and how are we going to fit the new bed in our modest bedroom? We’ve measured it all out, my closet doors cannot be opened completely but hey, I’m willing to compromise! The old bed has found a new place in our hallway untill we can get rid of it. The hallway is at the moment crammed with stuff, which makes for funny scenes when someone has to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. I’ve stubbed my toe against multiple boxes, ironing boards and more boxes repeatedly… Ah well, it’s all for a good cause! But I will be glad when it’s sundaymorning and the guys from IKEA deliver the bed. However then we still have to unpack and build the bed but that’s where my lovely dad comes into action. We kinda tricked him with food to come to us sunday and I hope he will bring a drill with him!
But enough chitter-chat about beds and IKEA and back to where this blog’s about; Crocheting! Since I’ve been very busy this week I haven’t touched a hook or looked at my blankets at all! However, I’ve ordered some stylecraft for new blankets. A chevron baby blanket with lots of grey and neon colours is fiddling around in my head right now so maybe this will be the next project… After I finish the 3 blankets that are still WIPs here! Which reminds me, I haven’t showed you guys any pictures of the baby blanket I finished last autumn!
It’s a rainbow ripple! I’t s been made with a 6 mm hook (or a J for the US people among us) and the big hook gives it a really soft feel! Before, I always made my blankets with 5 mm or 4.5 mm, but never again! I really love the loosy feel of this blanket! Might be that I make one for myself one day! It’s ofcourse made with Stylecraft special DK colours.
And more exciting news; my own shop that I’ve been wanting for sooooo long is almost ready to open! I just have to finish some WIPs and a few small things and then it’s time to open my digital doors! I’m already looking forward to that moment!!! The blanket above will also be available in the store soon!
Well, it’s off to cleaning for me! Now the bed is gone, I’ve finally go time to clean properly underneath.
