Bunny Egg Hat

Bunny egg hats will make everybody smile! The pattern is very easy, and suitable for beginning crocheters. They are not only whipped up in no time, but they will also look crazy cute on your Easter breakfast table!

Crochet hook

3.5mm (US size E/4).

Measurements

Fits the average egg.

Gauge/tension

Gauge is not critical for this project.

Hat

With Colour A, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) 6sc in magic loop. [6 sc]

Round 2 2sc in each sc around. [12 sc]

Round 3 (2sc in next sc, 1sc) 6 times. [18 sc]

Round 4 1sc in each st around. [18 sc]

Round 5 (2sc in next sc, 2sc) 6 times. [24 sc]

Round 6 (2sc in next sc, 3sc) 6 times. [30 sc]

Round 7 (2sc in next sc, 4sc) 6 times. [36 sc]

Rounds 8-9 1sc in each st around. [36 sc]

If you have a very large egg, you can stop here and omit the next row.

Round 10 (4sc, sc2tog) 6 times, ss into next stitch, cut yarn and fasten off. [30 sc]

Ears (make 2)

Row 1 (RS) With colour B, ch9, turn work. [9 sts]

Row 2 (WS) 1ss, 3sc, 4ss, cut yarn. [9 sts]

Row 3 (WS) With Colour A, join with a ss in the first stitch of Row 1, 1sc in same stitch, 3sc, 3hdc, 2hdc in 1 stitch (cross over to other side of ear), 2hdc in 1 stitch, 3hdc, 4sc, cut yarn (leave a 15cm tail for fastening). [18 sc]

Assembly

Weave in all the ends, except for the 15cm tail left on both ears. Use that end to sew the ears to the hat, on both sides of the center. If you feel the ears curl up too much, just iron or steam block them very, very lightly.
