Are you ready for the final part of the Hygge CAL? Last week you finished your beautiful shawl! I hope you are as happy with the shawl as I am. For the finishing touch we’re going to line the shawl. Not only does it provide some extra weight and hides the embroidery ends, but it also helps with the rippling of the edge, if the blocking hasn’t taken care of that yet.
I want to thank you all for participating in this CAL. It is heartwarming to see the enthusiasm with which you have embraced the embroidery and I hope to see many more of your creations inspired by this technique!!
Ben je klaar voor het allerlaatste stukje van de Hygge CAL? Afgelopen week heb je de rand van je sjaal als het goed is afgemaakt. Ik hoop dat je net zo blij bent met het project als dat ik ben! En om het af te maken voeren we het geheel. Het biedt namelijk niet alleen wat extra gewicht en afdekking voor je borduur-eindjes, maar het helpt ook met het golven van de rand (als blocken nog niet genoeg heeft geholpen).
Ik wil jullie allemaal heel erg bedanken voor het meedoen in deze CAL. Het is hartverwarmend om te zien hoe enthousiast jullie met het borduren aan de slag zijn gegaan. Dat is een opluchting en ik vind het supergaaf om de komende tijd nog meer Hygge-geïnspireerde haak- en borduurcreaties te zien!
Tips
Pretty much all tips are already in the document. I would like to emphasize that it’s important to have washed and ironed your lining before you get started. Fabric (especially cotton) often shrinks during the first wash and you don’t want that on your shawl. Furthermore, I’m in no way a professional seamstress. So if you want to line your shawl in another way, go for it! There are multiple ways to Rome, as they say.
Also, don’t fret that you haven’t used the extra’s that are provided in the kit, such as the charm and the button. I was not intending to use these on the shawl. Instead, keep an eye out next week for any bonus patterns you can make with the leftovers…. ;)
Vrijwel alle tips staan al in het document. Ik wil wel graag benadrukken dat het belangrijk is om je voeringsstof gewassen en gestreken te hebben voordat je gaat beginnen. Stof, en dan met name katoen wil nog wel eens krimpen tijdens de eerste wasbeurt. Daarnaast ben ik ook geen professionele naaister. Dus als je een andere manier kent om je shawl te voeren, ga je gang! Er zijn natuurlijk meerdere wegen naar Rome!
Trouwens, het klopt dat je tot nu toe nog geen extra’s uit de kit hebt gebruikt. Ik heb deze ook niet op de sjaals geplaatst. In plaats daarvan zou ik volgende week nog even terugkomen voor eventuele bonus patronen die je kan maken met de restjes…. ;)
