Fill me up Christmas stocking
17.Nov.23 / Kirsten BalleringThe “Fill me up” Christmas stocking features dropped stitches and a big cuff. The pattern is suitable for all skill levels and is written in US terms.
Materials and preparation
Yarn
- Colour A: Moonstone 801 x 2 balls
- Colour B: Deep Amethyst 811 x 1 ball
- Colour C: Corundum Ruby x 1 ball
- Colour D: Rose Quartz x 1 ball
- 2 Bells
Crochet hook
4.0mm (US size G/6).
Measurements
Finished stocking measures 34cm diagonally by 12cm wide (13.3in by 5in).
Gauge/tension
16 hdc and 13 rounds measure 10 x 10cm (4in x 4in) with a 4.0mm crochet hook.
Notes
- When joining a round, skip the ch1 you made at the beginning of the round and instead join in the first hdc.
- The stocking is made by working the cuff first, and making the stocking bottom up. You’ll later attach the cuff to the stocking.
- Spike stitches line up throughout the pattern. Because working in the round tends to slant your stitches, you move 1 stitch to the right with each spike stitch row in order for the stitches to visually match up. If you find that you rather shift 2 stitches instead of one, or none, that’s fine as well and won’t influence the pattern.
