Free Crochet Patterns

When I wanted to learn to crochet, I was mainly looking for free crochet patterns. I wasn't quite sure the hobby would stick, and I didn't want to purchase patterns I would not use. So I spent my time searching for the projects I liked best: big and colourful crocheted blankets.

Over time, I noticed that there were relatively few high-quality free crochet patterns available, especially for beginning crocheters like me. They all assumed you'd know the abbreviations, could read charts and knew how to block your crochet. As a beginner, none of that (or its importance) was really clear to me. So I've made a point of giving my readers tutorials, explanations and crochet diagrams for as many of my patterns as I can.

I'm still in the process of updating some of my earlier patterns with links to tutorials and how-to guides, so the collection is constantly growing and improving.

Over the years, I've published over 70 free crochet patterns, and I'm not planning to stop! If you like colour and want to learn lots of stitches, start with the Rainbow Granny Square Blanket or the Rainbow Sampler CAL blanket.

Looking for something a little more subtle? The Spicy Diamond Blanket is more delicate in terms of colour while still being beautiful. Most patterns come with stitch diagrams, photo tutorials and colour schematics. I'm also venturing into video tutorials.

Beyond blankets, you'll find colourful home decor like pillows, coasters, baskets, and the occasional shawl or pair of wristies. If you still can't find what you're looking for, I'd also encourage you to browse the wider pattern community for even more inspiration.
