Notes
- Stitches in Furry Tales are very hard to see, especially the first couple of rows. Don’t worry too much if you can’t find the stitches to crochet in, but instead crochet by feel and count. The fur on the yarn will hide almost any flaw in the crochet. If you’re one stitch short, compensate for this in the next row.
- The 2 ch at the end of each row are turning chains and do not count as stitch. The same goes for the 1 and 2 ch at the beginning of decrease rows.
- The pillow front and inset triangle are worked in rows and thus doesn’t have a right or wrong side.
Crochet pattern
Inset Triangle
With Colour B and 5.0mm hook, ch1.
Weave in ends. Your Inset Triangle should measure 28cm (11in) in width on top and 19cm (6.5in) in height. If not, block to size. Be sure not to overstretch as your pillow only measures 30cm (12in) in width.
Furry Tales Cover
With Colour A and 6.0mm hook, ch26.
Repeat Row 2 until your piece measures 40-41cm (15.75in). Make sure to mark the 13th stitch with a stitch marker. Don’t cut yarn.
Decreases
You will now start making the two decrease sections to create a space to sew your Inset Triangle in.
Turn work. Join yarn with a ss on the opposite end of your last row before you start the decreases. Ch2, repeat decrease section, creating a V-shape on your cover where the triangle will fit later. Your total piece should now measure 57cm (22.5in) in length. If your piece is longer, skip the last row on both decreases, thus ending with 2 hdc on each decrease section.
Assembly
Take your Inset Triangle. Using matching sewing thread, sew the triangle into the V-shape made with the Furry Tales. Place the Furry Tales on top of the triangle and make running stitches through both yarns, sewing into the base strand of the Furry Tales to make sure that you’re not sewing through the fluff only. Try to get the Furry Tales to royally fall over the triangle so you can obscure your stitches and the edge of the triangle with the fluff.
Once your pillow front is complete, take your matching sewing thread and sew the pillow front to your pillow with little running stitches or an invisible seam stitch. To make this easier you can use headpins to pin the front in place before sewing it on. Make sure to sew through the base strand of the Furry Tales, not only the fluff. Cut yarn, weave in all loose ends.
