Crochet pattern

X-stitch section 2

We’re adding another section of X’es. It’s an interesting stitch to add to the mix!

Row 133 (WS) Join Colour Q with a ss in first stitch, ch1, 1sc in same st, 216sc, ch1, turn. [217 sc]

Row 134 (RS) 4sc, *ch1, skip next stitch, 3sc, ch1, skip next stitch, 7sc; repeat from * another 16 times, ch1, skip next stitch, 3sc, ch1, skip next stitch, 4sc, cut yarn, turn. [36 ch-spaces, 181 sc, 217 sts in total]

Row 135 (WS) Join Colour P with a ss in first stitch, ch3 (counts as first dc), 216 dc (so 1 dc in each sc and chain), cut yarn, turn. [217 dc]

In the next row we’re going to create the crosses by making trebles in the front loops of the stitches below the chains that we’ve crocheted in Row 134. We do this by first crocheting a treble in the chain 2 stitches ahead (so the treble forms the first diagonal leg of the cross), making 3sc in between and then working another treble in the stitch below the chain 2 stitches back, forming the second diagonal leg of the cross. Don’t forget to skip the stitch on the current row behind the treble, otherwise, we’d mess up our stitch count.

Row 136 (RS) Join Colour Q with a ss in first stitch, ch1, 1sc in same st, 3sc, *1tr in FL of st below ch in Row 134 2 stitches ahead, skip next stitch on current row, 3sc, 1tr in FL of st below ch in Row 134 2 stitches back, skip next stitch on current row, 7sc; repeat from * another 16 times, 1tr in FL of st below ch in Row 134 2 stitches ahead, skip next stitch on current row, 3sc, 1tr in FL of st below ch in Row 134 2 stitches back, skip next stitch on current row, 4sc, ch1, turn. [18 tr-crosses, 217 sts in total]

Row 137 (WS) 217sc, cut yarn, turn. [217 sc]

Row 138 (RS) Join Colour A with a ss in first stitch, ch1, 1hdc in same st, 216hdc, ch1, turn. [217 hdc]

Popcorn section 2

This is another popcorn intermezzo. The difference with the previous popcorn section is that this time, the popcorn is made in a different colour. That means that you will switch yarn colours as you go about the row, and will crochet over the thread of the colour that you don’t use.

Row 139 (WS) Continuing with Colour A, 217hdc, ch1, turn. [217 hdc]

Row 140 (RS) 8hdc, *switch colours to Colour H, 1popcorn in Colour H, switch colours to Colour A, 7hdc; repeat from * another 23 times, switch colours to Colour H, 1popcorn in Colour H, switch colours to Colour A, 8hdc, ch1, turn. [25 popcorns, 192 hdc]

Row 141 (WS) Continuing with Colour A, 217hdc, ch1, turn. [217 hdc]

Row 142 (RS) 217hdc, cut yarn, turn. [217 hdc]

Granny Stripe section 5

And one more!

Row 143 (WS) Join Colour S with a ss in the first stitch, ch3 (counts as first dc), 1dc in same stitch, *skip 2 stitches, 3dc in next stitch; repeat from * another 70 times, skip 2 stitches, 2dc in last stitch, cut yarn, turn. [71 Granny clusters with 3 dc, 2 clusters with 2 dc, 217 dc in total]

Row 144 (RS) Join Colour A with a ss in the first stitch, ch1, 1hdc in same st, 216hdc, ch1, turn. [217 hdc]

Row 145 (WS) 217hdc, cut yarn, turn. [217 hdc]
